Documents required for Schengen Visa

Will you be traveling soon to somewhere in Europe? If your answer is yes, then you must know that you may need to apply for a Schengen visa so your entrance can be allowed. Nevertheless, if you're an American citizen, having just your passport will do if you're planning to stay for 90 days or less.  

The countries that are part of the Schengen area are: Austria, Belgium, Czech Republic, Denmark, Estonia, Finland, France, Germany, Greece, Hungary, Iceland, Italy, Latvia, Lithuania, Luxembourg, Malta, Netherlands, Norway, Poland, Portugal, Slovakia, Slovenia, Spain, Sweden, Switzerland and Liechtenstein. 

So if your next travel is to any of those countries, take some notes, because these are the documents required for a Schengen Visa:

• Application form fully filled and signed.
• Recent photograph in passport format, full-face, captured on a white or light background.
• Passport valid for at least 3 months prior to your departure date. It should have at least two blank pages.
• Plane ticket reservation for the date you’re intending to fly. Note that only the reservation is required, so don’t buy the ticket if your visa hasn’t been approved yet.
• Travel medical insurance policy with a minimum scope of 30.000 euros. It should be valid in every Schengen country and you must be in possession of one at the moment of applying for your visa.

Bear in mind that this list is only referential. Before submitting your application, we advise you to check with the embassy of the country you’re traveling to, and see if they require some other documents.
